Scratch 3 Concept Sketch

The ST has released a concept image of Scratch 3 here:

I presume it is good to include on the wiki page?

Chooper100 (talk | contribs) 09:56, 4 December 2016 (UTC)

I think its a good idea to add this. I think it may also be a good idea to note the date of the POC.

Unclear statement?

The part of this article where it says:

"It was mentioned that Scratch 3.0 had a barebones VM and an audio engine. The Scratch Team stated that they got Scratch 3.0 to beep the previous day."

was really confusing to me. What is a VM and what does it mean by "they got Scratch 3.0 to beep"? I can't understand what these two things mean, so I imagine that less experienced Scratchers won't be able to either.

A VM is a virtual machine. According to the file, the Scratch Virtual Machine keeps the state of the abstract syntax tree. In computing, a virtual machine is basically a program that acts like a computer; its instruction set called "bytecode" or "p-code."

what about them getting it to beep?

Edit war

Ziggy741 and BF10, please stop edit warring over whether the custom block image should be included. Please instead discuss here why it might be a glitch or not and then make a final decision from that.

(As a note, by leaving the image in, I am not taking a side. I don't actually know the answer, so I'm treating the image as valid until proven invalid.)
jvvg (talk | contribs) 04:26, 4 December 2016 (UTC)

In scratch 3.0, according to thisandagain[citation needed], custom blocks are meant to be red.

For jvvg: I was pretty sure it was a glitch. I'm pretty sure it won't say undefined on the real version of Scratch 3.0 and sorry.
Ziggy741 (talk | contribs) 15:37, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
It's not a glitch. It's been done on purpose.
Banana439monkey.png banana439monkey (Talk | Contribs | Scratch | Edits) 17:45, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
I am not particularly familiar with Scratch 3.0 and could hardly call myself an authority on it. My inclination is to say that the block probably wouldn't say "undefined", but that could also just be placeholder text.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 19:13, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
I'm 100% sure it is not a glitch. It is found as the only block in "Custom Blocks" with nothing else on it (no button, no other stuff). It is 100% checked. It should be changed later. If it is, then give me proof and I will stop. But if you don't have it, then you don't have proof it is a glitch. Besides, it is a prototype and most stuff is placeholders (the new blocks does nothing also). It will be changed in the final version, which won't come out for years. This is ripped from the prototype, NOT the real thing.
EDIT:This file will solve your problem. :)

Why would they have a block that says undefined? Just because it's in the prototype doesn't mean it's a glitch.
Ziggy741 (talk | contribs) 21:53, 4 December 2016 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── The "undefined" might just be text used as a placeholder for an example.

I unprotected the page. However, given what I can gather from this discussion, I think the image should stay, at least until we have a better image of a custom block.
jvvg (talk | contribs) 22:56, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
Okay. Maybe when you can make blocks in the prototype there could be a picture of a block someone might make.
Ziggy741 (talk | contribs) 22:59, 4 December 2016 (UTC)

what does that mean? is it like google maps or something?
JonathanSchaffer (talk | contribs) 15:49, 24 March 2017 (UTC)

It means what the Scratch Team plan on doing. :)

Scratch cat.png
but what about the 3.0 cat? can someone get an image of it?
JonathanSchaffer (talk | contribs) 14:42, 10 May 2017 (UTC)

I can try and get you one - I'll post it on your talk page once uploaded.

Added New Image

Here it is!

I'm of two minds about this - we already have an official screenshot of the editor, so why add a random screenshot of the current editor?

I had already uploaded the image, I considered the same thing… anyway, people may be interested if they don’t want to go on the actual editor.
Forested (talk | contribs) 19:00, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
Idk about it either, I don't know if it looks to cluttered...

what's the link

Except (talk | contribs) 16:55, 16 September 2017 (UTC) what's the link for the GUI of 3.0?

Go here:

Two Questions

1. Anyone know anything about 'Cosmicat', apparantly the 'new cat'? 2. I've been looking through some of the ST's pages on GitHub and someone's 'compiled' and offline editor together - I read through some later posts and I think it works on Microsoft Windows and Mac PCs. Should I... add?
